About Us

ABOUT US

Expand Your S.C.O.P.E.™ is a clinician mentoring and shadowing service for certified healthcare providers looking to expand their own scopes of practice.

We believe that the best way to retain and grow clinical skills is by shadowing other professionals in your discipline.  Post-graduate shadowing allows practitioners to sharpen their own skills, gain confidence and experience before re-entering the workforce after a hiatus, and gather a firsthand view before switching to a new specialty, setting, or population of patients.

These crucial, live continuing education experiences are few and far between for many healthcare providers. Most rely on workshops and reading to further their knowledge.  While these are valuable tools as well, we believe that nothing replaces real-world observations of patients and providers, where you can see co-morbidities they don't teach you in textbooks and how practical factors influence diagnostic and treatment activities.

Finding and arranging shadowing experiences on your own while maintainting a full caseload can feel like a second job, but now Expand Your S.C.O.P.E.™ is here to help!  You fill out an online profile (5-10 minutes) and we find a coordinating clinician in your field for you to shadow based on your desired settings/populations.

We are owned and operated by Autumn Bryant, an ASHA Certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) who recently switched settings from schools to an outpatient facility.  Before committing to making the switch, Autumn sampled various settings and populations by observing other certified SLPs in an ENT's voice clinic, Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs), and other types of schools as well as getting direct mentorship from a colleague who had recently made a similar transition from the schools to an outpatient pediatric clinic.

These experiences helped Autumn make the informed decisions that would be best for her professional growth  and personal happiness.

Through Autumn's company, Griffin Speech, Chartered, we offer Shadowing Coordination for Observing Practitioner Expertise  --- in other words, S.C.O.P.E.

While  the program will start with SLPs, we plan to offer future opportunities to other healthcare providers, including Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Audiologists, Social Workers, and Psychologists.

We are here to help certified healthcare practitioners

scope out an expanded scope of practice!

Participate with Confidence

We verify each participating SLP's membership with ASHA by checking ASHA numbers.

REASONS TO JOIN

“I have been in the school for 6 years and am looking to potentially make a switch. The possibility to shadow SLPs in other settings would allow me to learn more current practices and refresh my skills in other areas that I have not practiced since graduate school.”

“As a mentor, I love sharing what I have learned over the past 20+ years. I have experienced and explored a variety of techniques (both tried and true as well as new, cutting edge) that others may find valuable to their work.”

- LM

“I began my career working in the acute care setting and have seen moved into subacute and long term care. All of my experience since graduate school has been with adults. I am very interested in moving into work with children.”
